About This Place

Nestled in the heart of San Bernardino’s Business Center, Birdcage Comics Cafe offers a truly one-of-a-kind blend of café culture and comic book haven. This imaginative space is much more than your average coffee stop—it’s a vibrant community hub where creativity, comfort, and connection converge. Whether you’re a devoted comic book fan or simply looking for a cozy spot to relax, study, or find inspiration, Birdcage Comics Cafe invites you in with open arms.

The café’s menu is as thoughtfully curated as its atmosphere, boasting an impressive array of coffee and specialty drinks known as “Bird Fuels.” You’ll find everything from rich, perfectly balanced Americanos served hot or iced (available in 16oz and 20oz sizes), to a delightful lineup of lattes swirling with flavor accents like vanilla, caramel, honey cinnamon, and Nutella. More adventurous palates can indulge in signature creations such as the Cardinal Strawberry or Bluejay Blueberry lattes that pair creamy texture with fresh fruit vibrancy. Smoothies and house-made lemonades complement the drink options, providing refreshing alternatives that please the senses without overwhelming sweetness.

Birdcage’s all-day Early Bird Breakfast grooves perfectly with their beverages. Imagine the buttery warmth of a croissant, flaky and satisfying, or the comforting simplicity of avocado toast topped with everything bagel seasoning—a divine fusion of creamy and crunchy textures. The sausage croissant, layered with perfectly cooked eggs and melted cheese, has won the hearts of first-time visitors like James Lugo, whose words echo the pleasure of sinking into those flaky folds with a smooth vanilla latte or a subtly fruity strawberry banana smoothie.

Community spirit pulses through Birdcage’s walls. Dennis Phan celebrates the café’s role as a welcoming space where visitors can enjoy live music, wholesome events, and a vast selection of free-to-read comics and books. This commitment to fostering a creative and inclusive environment turns every visit into an opportunity not just to relax but to connect. Marie Sosa highlights Birdcage as a sanctuary for local artists—a place where warmth and positivity thrive alongside premium, fresh ingredients delivering knockout sandwiches and rich caramel lattes made with oat milk. It’s a vibe that invites you to linger, recharge, and soak in creativity.

Ease of access adds another layer of appeal; nestled conveniently off the 10 Freeway and surrounded by shopping centers, offices, and hotels, Birdcage Comics Cafe makes for a perfect pitstop with ample parking. Ash G’s experience with their breakfast/brunch croissants, combined with a smooth brown sugar iced latte, perfectly captures the balance of great food, excellent coffee, and a welcoming environment.

What truly distinguishes Birdcage Comics Cafe is its dynamic creative pulse. R MarkC describes an extraordinary visit where a live art class unfolded amidst the aroma of fresh coffee and the quiet rustle of comic pages—capturing the shop’s unique ability to blend artistry with everyday café culture. This isn’t just a place to grab a drink; it’s a sanctuary where stories are told, art is made, and meaningful connections are sparked.

In sum, Birdcage Comics Cafe is a cherished gem for both coffee lovers and comic enthusiasts alike, enriching San Bernardino with its multifaceted charm. Its warm, inclusive atmosphere entwined with flavorful, quality offerings ensures each visit feels personal and inspiring—a true haven where creativity meets comfort in every cup and corner.

I really enjoy this cafe and how it’s also a community space with occasional live music and there’s quite a few opportunities for nice wholesome events! All the books and comics are free to read— inside the café— and it’s a great place to study.

This is our first time coming here. We both had the sausage croissant with egg and cheese sausage, and the eggs are cooked together and that was it was quite tasty with the croissant because that was flaky. I had the latte vanilla and my wife had the strawberry banana smoothie it’s not sweet, but you can taste the fruit in it, we enjoyed our experience here. It was a nice little place to come in and have breakfast.

A nice, quiet, and positive place for local artists to promote their art, and relax in a comfortable atmosphere. The employees are warm and inviting, and the vibe is immaculate here. Will definitely be making this place a regular stop. -I had the turkey sandwich, and a caramel latte with oat milk. Their produce is top tier! The satisfying crunch of that sandwich alone was enough to being me back in! The coffee was the perfect amount of sweet and went down easy. (My pal got a plain bagel and an iced coffee) I was able to chat with her and even grab a comic on my way out! Support this local place! They are great!

Location: Conveniently located near shopping, offices, hotels, and much more. Right off the 10 fwy. Parking: Adequate parking as it is located in a business center. Food: Cream cheese danish was excellent! Also ordered two breakfast/brunch croissants. (Turkey/Egg/Cheese and Turkey/Egg) - They were absolutely amazing!!! Coffee: I ordered a Brown Sugar Iced Latte w/ Oatmilk If you actually enjoy COFFEE & and not the overly sweet / heavy creamer drinks, this is the place for you! There aren’t many places that have good quality coffee but that’s not an issue here. Service: Outstanding!!!! Atmosphere: Good people, Good Vibes, Good energy….if you need a place to meet up with friends or family, this would be a great spot! Or to catch up on work/school work. There are comics available to read and to purchase, the decor was really unique too.

I recently went to a truly unique coffee shop and had an exceptional experience. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. What sets this place apart is the live art class they had going on, where students were drawing a live person model—such a creative and inspiring atmosphere! They also sell unique books and comics, adding to the shop's distinct charm. The food was good, and the lively ambiance made our visit even more enjoyable. There's plenty of seating, so you can comfortably settle in and enjoy the surroundings. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this coffee shop for anyone looking for a vibrant and unique spot to relax.

Great hidden gem that is easy to miss! It's located in a nondescript shopping center but the food and atmosphere are worth seeking out. The croissant breakfast sandwich was delicious! If you're in the area, check them out!

Good sandwiches, great Earl Grey iced tea, and excellent zines to read while waiting. I even left a couple of my own. I forgot to ask about leaving more zines ... I have a small box full of zined I have received from friends and traders

Wow. I’ve been recommended this place since it opened and I regret not coming here sooner. The whole inside is covered with beautiful art and thoughtful posters (less “Hang in there baby!” And more “Colonization Never Ended. It just evolved.” Followed by amazing graphs and education. (I am a huge fan of this)) Daniel took my order and he was excellent. He told me about a zine about the birth of this incredible space and it’s beautifully illustrated. Such a lovely way to show people how much blood, sweat, and tears go into running a small business. I got a hot latte (excellent) and a breakfast bagel with pepperoni (phenomenal and fantastically priced) and I’m currently waiting on another breakfast bagel to bring to my husband it was that level of good. This spot is a unique gem who’s focusing on the owners love and passion for comics and community and I cannot wait to support them fully. Thank you again for an incredible morning guys. I hope to be seeing y’all soon.
